Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid malignancy in children, rarely occurs in adult. This primitive neuronal malignancy generally arises during fetal development or in early childhood.
Nevertheless, we have cared for one neuroblastoma patients in adult. A 20-year-old man presented with indigestion and progressive abdominal pain. Abdominopelvic computed tomography (CT) shows 9¡¿12 cm sized mass originated from left retroperitoneal cavity. Explorative laparotomy was performed based on the suspicion of adrenal gland tumor. The pathologic examination showed the characteristic finding of neuroblastoma. He was treated with completed surgical resection and adjuvant chemotherapy. Local recurrence or solid organ metastasis were not shown 18 months after
6 courses of the chemotherapy. The patient has been in good clinical condition.(Korean J Med 70:S319-S323, 2006)
